The shadow as a threshold was used as an component in my design. As said on the slide, shadows as a threshold can veil and obscure parts of the structure and the relationship between self and the surroundings, in Nobel’s lab this is what exactly happened.Nobel’s lab is dark and lit by the glow from in between the ramp, showing the middle structure partially and as if it is hiding in the shadows, and in order to unveil it and discover the structure, you must follow the ramp and uncover the parts of the “truth” of the structure, and putting each of these clues together will give you the structure. So the shadow in my design gives my client a chance to unveil the “truth” slowly as if he were solving a puzzle. It also gives the beauty of ambiguity towards the structure, which without the light is just merely a shaped concrete slab.
